Is this an Internet-only business or do you have a place I can visit?

 

We would be most pleased if you would visit us next time you are in New York.  We are located at 485 Park Avenue, between 58th and 59th Streets.  Please call us if you are trying to view a particular item before making a purchase.  We will do our best to make it available for you to see.

Do you custom make jewelry?

Why are some prices listed as "Suggested Retail" and others with just a price?

 

Many of the jewelry industry’s designers suggest a price that their pieces should sell for.  These are not over inflated figures, but there is sufficient markup built in for a typical retail jeweler.  Our competitors get very upset when we print our lower prices and we wish to insulate our designers from complaints. We do not sell items listed as “Suggested Retail” at those prices.  Simply call (800) M-BADLER (800-622-3537).  If you make your purchase using the online order form and fill in the Suggested Retail price, we will automatically charge you the lower price.

 

If it does not say “Suggested Retail” the price shown is our accurate selling price.

 


 

Is there a uniform discount percentage for all of your jewelry?

 

At Maurice Badler we are known for our competitive pricing and service.  The percentage off the Suggested Retail prices varies from one designer to another.  In fact, some designers create different lines and the discount we are permitted to offer varies by collection and price point.  Please call us at (800) M-BADLER (800) 622-3537, and we will quickly give you all the information necessary to make your decision.

 

 


 

 

When do things go on sale?

 

Maurice Badler offers good value all the time.  Occasionally, we have items that we may have overbought or did not sell as quickly as we had hoped.  These pieces are sold through our Last Call website. Most of these are one-of-a-kind pieces at fabulous prices. There is a link to this site next to the search bar at the top of badler.com

 


 

 

How do I purchase a gift certificate?

 

Please call us to purchase your certificate.  We will put it in a nice presentation box and send it directly to your gift recipient if you wish.

 


 

 

Are all your items on the Maurice Badler website?

 

We can’t possibly show everything on our website.  If you are interested in an item that is not shown, ask us.  We can email you a photograph if we have it in stock. 

 


 

We have heard about your "Appraisals to Fight Cancer" program. How does it work?

 

For more than 40 years, the Badler family has been raising funds to help those less fortunate and to support the search for the cure for cancer. 

 

Occasionally, you may need updated appraisals on item purchased from us, from other jewelers or through inheritances.  We appraise fine jewelry for insurance purposes, by appointment.  In lieu of the standard appraisal fee, we ask that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity.   Please call for an appointment.

Is it safe to use my credit card online?

 

All of your information is encrypted by Secure Socket Layer technology.  Your private information is protected. We do not store your credit card information for future use.

 



Do you stock all the pieces on the Maurice Badler website?

 

Many of the items are available, but not all.  Some of the jewelry we offer is made to order and is not stocked in our store.  The store also has many items not on the web, so please call us if you do not see what you are looking for online.

 


 

How long does it typically take to get my order?

 

In stock items are shipped within 48 hours, excluding weekends and holidays.  We ship using UPS or Express Mail from the US Postal Service.  A tracking number and estimated time of delivery will be emailed to you when your order is shipped.  If the item ordered is not in stock, we will call or email you to let you know an estimated delivery date.  Orders under $100 are usually sent by First Class Mail and are not trackable.

 


 

If I see something that I need to order in a different size, can I see it first before placing a special order?

 

We will gladly send you our stock size to approve before placing your special order.


Is it possible to get a rush order?

 

If you need it fast, we’ll get it out immediately.  Just tell us when you need it, and we will do whatever is possible to get it there.

 

 


 

 

What are your shipping charges?

 

Orders totaling $500 or less: $15

Orders between $501-$1,000: $20

Orders between $1,001-$3,999: $30

Over $4,000: $45

Shipments to Hawaii and Alaska incur an additional $15 from UPS 

 

Express shipping options are available:

2nd Day air:  $8 additional

Next Day air: $15 additional

Next Day air, Saturday delivery: $30 additional

 

 


 

Do I have to pay sales tax?

 

If the jewelry is being sent out of New York State, Maurice Badler Fine Jewelry is not obligated to collect the New York sales tax.  However, many states impose a use tax.  It is the purchaser’s responsibility to remit any applicable taxes.

 

 


 

 

May I order rings with the gemstones going all the way around?

 

Many of our clients prefer the gemstones in their rings to go all around.  We love that too. With a few exceptions, these rings need to be made to order.  We will be happy to send you a stock ring to view before placing your special order.  We guarantee the ring you receive will be the same quality as the sample. If there is a difference in the diamond or other gemstone weight, the price will be adjusted up or down accordingly.

 



 

 

What if I don't know my (her) finger size?

 

If you are unsure of your (her) size, simply stop into a local jewelry store and have your (her) finger measured by a professional. If this is not convenient, we will mail you ring sizers free of charge.

 

If you are buying a gift, we encourage you to order the stock size ring and let us exchange it later when you can get us an accurate size.  We do not recommend taking one of her rings to a store to have it measured.  It is unreliable, because:

  1. This ring may not be a proper fit.
  2. It may be a proper fit on the wrong finger.
  3. It is difficult to get an accurate measurement from a ring that is not round.

 


May I order custom lengths on bracelets and necklaces?

 

Yes.  Virtually all necklaces and bracelets—even bangles—may be ordered in a larger or smaller size.  You may want us to send the stock size first for you to try on and approve.   We will guide you through the process of measuring the difference you need. We ask that you be certain of the style and size, as Maurice Badler cannot accept returns on special order lengths.

 

 



 

Are all the earrings for pierced ears or can I get them non-pierced?

 

Items that are only for pierced ears are indicated.  Otherwise, presume you can order them non-pierced.  Occasionally, these need to be custom made.  If this affects your ability to return the earrings, we will inform you before having them made.  We may offer to send you the pierced earrings to approve before custom making the non-pierced version.

 

 


 

 

Will you ship to an address other than the billing address of my credit card?

 

Since jewelry is often given as a gift for a special occasion, we want to help you with your surprise. It is not a problem for us to ship your order to an address other than your billing address.  In some instances, we may need you to sign an authorization.

 

 


 

Can you engrave or otherwise personalize items for me?

 

We have highly skilled engravers available to personalize your gift.  The charges are small.  Please remember that engraved items may not be exchanged or returned.

 

 



 

Can parts of my order be shipped to different addresses?

 

No problem at all.  Just give us all the details and we will make sure to get it done for you.  Separate shipping charges will apply to each address.

 

 


 

 

If an item is back-ordered, when you will charge my credit card?

 

We will not charge your card until the item is ready to be shipped.  For special orders, including custom sizes and lengths, we will charge half when you place your order and the balance when your order is ready. 

 


 

 

I found an item in a previous catalog.  Can I still order it?

Do you have a layaway plan?

 

If you would like to make regular payments, give us a call.  We are very flexible in assisting our clients with their needs.  We also offer 6 month interest-free financing through Synchrony Bank.  The plan requires that you make at least the minimum payment every month pay the entire amount by the end of the promotional period to avoid paying interest.  It is a very simple application process that takes 3 minutes.  Please call us for more information.

 

 


 

 Will you ship an order if I live outside the US?

 

Shipping charges vary on the value of the order and the country to which it will be delivered.   Please note that we are not allowed to ship Pandora merchandise outside North America.  All orders from outside the United States MUST be paid via Paypal.  Our Paypal address is info@badler.com.  Please send funds as a gift, so that we do not incur the fee. 

 

Many countries charge an import duty, which will be collected by your government before delivering the items.  Payment of taxes, if any, is the recipient’s responsibility.

 

If you choose to return the merchandise, and if there is a duty imposed on Maurice Badler to get the jewelry back into the US, it will be deducted from your refund.

 

 


 

Gems & Jewelry

 

Are certain gemstones enhanced or treated to improve color or clarity?

 

Gemstone purchasers should be aware that natural gemstones are processed from the time they are extracted from the earth by one or more traditionally-accepted jewelry industry practices.  All gemstones shown in our catalogs and website have probably been subjected to a stable and possibly undetectable enhancement process.  All relevant information will be readily provided to the best of our knowledge. Prevailing market values are based on universally practiced and accepted processes by the gem and jewelry trade.

 

Maurice Badler does not knowingly sell clarity enhanced or laser-drilled diamonds.  Our fancy colored diamonds are natural color, with the exception of black diamonds.

 


 

What are black diamonds?

 

They are natural diamonds that have undergone heat treatment.  Typically, a cutter uses nicely cut diamonds that are relatively free of inclusions that are not the finest white color. When the treatment is applied, the result is a rich black color with lots of reflective sparkle. Natural black diamonds do occur, but they are inconsistent in color and often full of cracks. The color-enhanced blacks are far more attractive.

 



Do you buy or sell estate jewelry?

 

We now have a section on Badler's Last Call for estate jewelry.  Except for the pieces shown there, all of our jewelry is new.  Estate pieces are clearly labeled as such and are also backed by our one year warranty and 30 day money back guarantee. 

We can also assist you in selling your unwanted pieces or in disposing of an estate.  We have excellent contacts within the jewelry industry and will work to get you the best price possible for your items.  Please call us to make an appointment.

 

 


 

Should I have my jewelry insured?

 

We generally recommend purchasing jewelry insurance on items valued at $1,000 or more. While your homeowner or renter policies cover you against theft of an aggregate amount, this does not cover you in case of loss or damage; and there is usually a deductible.   It is possible to attach a rider to your policy that will cover you against theft, loss or damage of individual items, usually with no deductible. Contact your agent for details on insurance coverage.  You will need an appraisal for insurance purposes, which we provide free of charge with your purchase of $1,000 or more. Returns

 

May I return an item that I bought for a refund or exchange?

 

We will gladly accept returns or exchanges on items as long as they are received within 30 days of purchase.  The jewelry must be in new and saleable condition, with no alterations.  Engraved items and special orders may not be returned or exchanged. 

If the item was a gift, you may exchange the items for other jewelry, a merchandise credit or gift certificate or we will give a refund to the original purchaser.

 

 

 


 

Do I need a return authorization number or label to send in a return?

 

You do not need any kind of authorization to make a return.  We want your online experience to be as simple as possible. Your package will contain instructions in case you wish to return your purchase.  Please insure the package fully.  We will issue the refund to your credit card account within 24 hours and send you a copy.  Refunds for items paid by cash, check or money order will be sent by check within ten business days.  Remember, we offer a thirty-day money back guarantee on stock items.  Please be prompt if you are sending something back.

 

 


 

Do you extend your return policy during the Holidays?

 

Purchases made in November and December may be returned until January 15th of the following year, or 30 days after the day of purchase, whichever is later.

 

 


 

May I return a catalog or online purchase in the New York Store?

 

Of course.  One of our primary goals is to make doing business with us as easy as possible.  You are welcome to bring returns of catalog or Internet purchases to the Park Avenue store.

 

 


 

How should I send my return?

We advise using Registered Mail from the US Postal service for packages insured for $4,000 or more.  For items under $500, USPS insured mail is a good option.  Otherwise, UPS is a secure choice.  Beware of large surcharges imposed by some package convenience stores. 

 

 


 

If I have jewelry made to order and I change my mind, can I send it back?

 

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on items that were:

  • custom made to order
  • altered to your specifications
  • engraved 

 

If there is a problem with the item, we will repair or replace it according to the terms of our warranty.

 

 


 

 

 

Repairs

 

If I have a problem with jewelry I’ve purchased from Maurice Badler, and it is past the warranty period, can I bring or send it to you to be repaired?

 

Yes, of course. We will quote a price to you before doing any work.  Please let us do the repair work on items purchased from us.  In many cases, the item should be sent to the original manufacturer.

 

 


 

How long do repairs take?

 

This depends on the nature of the work that is required.  We will give you a delivery estimate when we have examined the item. 

 


 

 

Can you assist me with making a claim with my insurance company?

 

If anything happens to your jewelry, please call us first.  We are quite accustomed to communicating with insurance companies.  Our objective is to make sure you you’re your items restored or replaced with the same quality as the original.  After determining the cost of the repair, we will provide you with a letter detailing the cause of the damage and the cost to repair or replace the item. 

 

 



Can rings or bracelets be sized if my size changes?

 

 

Most, but not all, rings can be sized without affecting the structural integrity of the ring.  Rings will enamel or gemstones all the way around may not be sizable.  Link bracelets are usually easy to shorten.

 

 



If I have a problem with jewelry I purchased elsewhere, can you help?

 

 

When you are in our family of clients, you are part of our family.  We will do our best to handle all of your jewelry needs, including repairs. 

 

 


 

If I lose half a pair of earrings, do I have to buy a new pair?

 

In many cases, our designers will accommodate us by allowing us to order half a pair of earrings for replacement.  If it is an earring we make ourselves, we more than likely have the mold and can create the missing half.  In either case, you will only be charged half the current price of a new pair. We’ll repolish your remaining half so it looks like new at no charge.

 

 


 

Will you advise me on the care and cleaning of my jewelry?

 

Please ask us anything about the care of your jewelry.  If you are near our store on your visits to New York, please stop by.  We will gladly clean your jewelry free of charge.  After all, if it doesn’t look its best, nobody will ask you where you bought it.
