MEET DESIGNER LECIL HENDERSON, of the HENDERSON COLLECTION

February 2021: We are deeply saddened to announce that Lecil passed away suddenly last November. The blog we wrote about him in 2018 remains a testament to the wonderful person he was, and we will always remember him for his warmth, kindness and generosity. May his memory be a blessing.

It has been 28 years since Lecil founded the Henderson Collection. I have watched this company evolve into a jewelry industry powerhouse. There has always been a focus on luxurious jewelry that is suitable for every day wear. The prices allow for self-purchases or as wonderful gifts.

I have known this man too many years to count….I’m not sure cell phones were invented yet. He is an extraordinary individual…dedicated to the stores that sell his jewelry and the consumer who owns his creations. There are so very few who are willing to offer a lifetime warranty on their items. Lecil does. Would you like the piece made differently? Longer, with different gemstones, or in a different metal color or finish? Lecil will do it.

Lecil’s personality is that of a good ole’ Southern gentleman with infamous Southern hospitality and generosity. The firm supports many charities including Jewelers for Children, and Lecil has served on the boards of several community organizations in Charlotte. I don’t see how he has time for all of that and STILL makes the time to be with his three children. He has coached soccer teams, plays golf, tennis, skiing and white water rafting.  

With all of that, Lecil makes a point of doing personal appearances all over the US and abroad. Very few designers spend that kind of time to get to know his clients and more importantly, meet and work one-on-one with consumers who love to collect Henderson pieces.

In recent years, Lecil developed a wonderful partnership with Luca Lorenzini of Italy, whose jewelry is exclusively featured by Lecil in the US. If you’ve never seen this Italian-made collection, it is wonderful, everyday fun jewelry. Sterling silver, colored gemstones and white topaz in fashionable designs on colored neoprene. Magnetic clasps make them easy to put on and hard to lose.
